چکیده

Irradiation processes have several commercial applications, in the coating of metals, plastics, and glass, in printing, wood finishing, film and plastic cross-linking, and in the fields of adhesive and electrical insulations. The advantages of this technology are well known. Radiation treatment on fabric and garments can add value in coloration, antifelting, printing, and coating. In this chapter, different irradiation methods such as plasma, electron beam, laser, ion implantation, microwave, gamma, and ablation are described, and the effects of these process in textile industry as a finishing method are discussed and compared with conventional methods.

COOLED PLATE TESTS ON TEXTILE MATERIALS IN SIMULATED COCKPIT UNDER “SOLAR RADIATION” Kuklane, Kalev

This study investigated if clothing material with reflective properties has an effect on heat gain in pilot, specifically, under solar radiation. Two materials, conventional pilot suit material (Old) and material coated with coldblack® (New, Schoeller Technologies AG, Switzerland) were tested over variety of underwear layers and in a box simulating cockpit. A hot plate was used to measure t...

Design and Characterization of Conformal Microstrip Antennas Integrated into 3D Orthogonal Woven Fabrics

The integration of the antenna and textile materials is very important in the army protective or data transmission clothing. In this study, a novel microstrip antenna integrated into a 3D orthogonal woven fabric was successfully designed and fabricated. This type of antenna is designed to work in wearable or conformal antenna applications. Simulation work using HFSS software was done for the de...

Acute dermal toxicity and sensitization studies of novel nano-enhanced UV absorbers.

BACKGROUND Many employees working outside are exposed to the harmful effects of UV radiation. A growing problem is also sensitization to textile materials and allergic reactions to active compounds. Groups of inorganic UV blockers with nanoparticles may provide superior properties over organic UV absorbers with relatively less potential of provoking dermatitis. OBJECTIVES To assess acute derm...

Protecting Surfaces Using One-Dimensional Nanostructures

Ultraviolet waves, because of their short wavelength, have a high energy and considerable damaging effects on surfaces. Protection against ultraviolet radiations is one of the finishing treatments done on surfaces exposed to sunlight. The importance of this issue in relation to human health, due to complications such as skin burns and cancer, is doubled. Up t...
